AVAILABLE! Milo

Milo (DOB January, 2023) is a snuggly boy who enjoys getting attention from his people.  When he’s not cuddled up next to you getting love and pets, he keeps busy gnawing on his antlers and nylon chews.  He also likes chasing after toys that are thrown, but hasn’t quite mastered the art of retrieval.

He has a medium-high energy level and indulges in zoomies whenever he’s in the yard.  He also delights in playing with other dogs and will require a large, spirited fur friend.  Milo tends to be extremely rough and tumble when playing, so a tolerant and sturdy companion is a must.  He is too over the top for smaller dog and cats, so a home without either is best.

Milo was not well socialized when he came into rescue.  His foster home has been diligently working with him to strengthen his confidence. He has made progress, but can still be tentative and uncomfortable in unfamiliar situations.  He will need a dog savvy family that will be committed to building upon the foundation that has been laid.  His ideal home would be a lower energy one with an established routine and someone around frequently.

As is common with young pups, Milo can get up to some mischief or snag tasty treats from the counter when he’s left unattended.  Therefore, crating is recommended when he will be home alone.  Milo knows several obedience commands and is learning how to be a model citizen when on leash.  He doesn’t love his crate and will make sure you know it.  He does settle down eventually and tolerates crating for a few hours before he will protest in earnest.

Milo is good with children and has a soft mouth when taking treats.  He can be a little slap happy, so older kids are probably best. Milo will require a fenced yard with room to zoom.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on a monthly heartworm preventative.

He is fostered in Orlando and is ready for adoption. If you would like to make him a part of your family, please fill out an application and submit the processing fee. If you are an approved adopter interested in Milo or have questions about him or the adoption process, please email Cherie, our adoption coordinator, at cherie@gdlcf.org.
