Caesar

RIP Caesar 9/9/2014

Caesar is a 4 year old (estimated) mantle male with natural ears. He came into rescue as a stray so we don’t have any history on him prior to rescue. He is crate trained, housebroken, not destructive, and trustworthy to be left loose inside. Caesar has done well with basic obedience training and is good on leash. He loves to go on walks, car rides, and trips to the pet food stores.

Caesar is very people oriented and forms quick bonds. He lives with another Dane is his foster home and there have been no issues between the two.  He will likely do better with bigger sized dogs.

Being so people focused he may be one of the rarer Danes that is well suited as a single dog given the proper exercise and attention. In fact he has a slight disinterest in other dogs and mostly just wants to hang with his people. A velcro boy for sure.

An update on Caesar. He was recently diagnosed with Lumbosacral Stenosis which is a deteriorated disc in the spine / tail area. He’s still very mobile, likes to run, plays ball outside (both chase and by himself). good tail posture, quick turns, etc. His foster home does see occasional periods of slight rear leg weakness and less than ideal coordination but fleeting. There is no predictive prognosis of how this may progress. Currently his only supportive therapy is a joint supplement and he seems to be doing great.

Caesar is a smaller Dane at around 115 pounds with a big heart. A very easy going, sweet, cooperative guy who’s a pleasure to deal with.
