Rudy

Adopted, August 2020

Rudy is a 3 year old (DOB November 2016) blue male with cropped ears that do not stand. He loves toys, belly rubs and long naps but who doesn’t!?

Rudy came into rescue very underweight, a heavy load of hookworms and overall was not in the best of shape. He was turned into a rescue that helps smaller dogs so they reached out to us. We didn’t get much background information on Rudy so what we know is what we have come to learn.

Rudy’s foster home has worked with him on basic obedience so he has learned some proper manners. Rudy is an active boy and likes to play with other dogs however he is not great with doggie play manners as he is a humper. So his playmates have been selective and has mostly done well with females. His current foster home has two 30-50 pound dogs in the home and he does fine with them. Rudy does have some issues with food/treats around other dogs so he does need to be fed separately for everyone’s safety. He will be considered for homes without out pets as well.

We were told he is great with small children but we have not witnessed that however we do know he is great with the 9 year old in his foster home; Rudy gets lots of kisses and snuggles from him! We do not know how he is with cats as he has no known exposure to them while in our rescue. Rudy loves to go for walks and play with his toys. He has a favorite ball and has a habit of hiding his toys in his big jowls 🙂 Speaking of those jowls, he can be slobbery, especially after drinking so have a towel handy!

Because of his food aggression issues and his ongoing obedience needs we think he would do best in a home that has had Danes before and/or is very structured. He has come a long way from where he was, but still needs to improve to be the best Rudy he can be.

Rudy is crate trained and housebroken as well as neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested negative, on a monthly heartworm preventative and microchipped.
