AVAILABLE! Alpha

Alpha (DOB January, 2024) is an affectionate boy who bonds strongly and deeply with his people.  He loves to curl up with you on the couch, putting his head in your lap to get the very best pets.  He’s a heavy leaner and also readily gives hugs, gently tucking his head around your neck.  As he forms a strong attachment to his loved ones and thrives in their company, his ideal home would be one with someone around frequently.

Alpha has a moderate energy level and enjoys playing with toys; plushies and rubber chewies being his favorites.  He’s curious by nature and likes to be included in household activities. His curiosity also manifests in a bit of counter surfing, so accessible items should be kept out of reach.

He is very much a social butterfly and enjoys going on adventures, especially when it involves making new friends.  He’s always up for a road trip and is ecstatic when it includes a stop for a pup cup.  At home he is a bit more reserved when visitors stop by, barking initially before moving in for some love and attention.

Alpha is very good with children, though older kids are recommended due to his size and playstyle.  He is dog friendly and would be happy to have a playmate.  Caution is recommended with small dogs, as they can be trampled when he gets excited.  Alpha is good with dog-savvy cats, though if they run, he will pursue them as he thinks chase is a fun game.

He is crate trained, knows basic obedience and will require a fenced yard.  He gets excited for walks and has reasonably good leash manners, though he can pull a bit when a quickly moving animal is encountered.  Alpha is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on a monthly heartworm preventative.

He is fostered in Melbourne Beach and is ready for adoption. If you would like to make him a part of your family, please fill out an application and submit the processing fee. If you have questions about Alpha or the adoption process, please email our adoption coordinator at cherie@gdlcf.org.
