Adopted! Athena

Athena (October, 2020) loves plushie toys, fetch games and walks around the neighborhood.  She has a moderate energy level and is a balanced mix of playfulness and couch potatohood.  Outdoors she embraces the freedom of the yard, exploring her surroundings and zooming around the property.  She also delights in playing chase with the other dogs in her foster home. She will require a fenced yard.

Athena absolutely adores people and will pester you for love and pets.  She will also bring you her favorite playthings and attempt to draw you into a hearty game of tug.  Athena enjoys meeting new people and seems to have a special fondness for men.  She has gone on several outings and has been confident and well behaved.  She is dog friendly and would enjoy having a playful fur friend.  Athena is also cat friendly and good with chickens.  Her history with children is unknown, so any kids in the home should be at least 10 years old.

She is obsessed with food and will help herself to anything left on the counter, as well as raid the trash.  She will also pester you at mealtimes for some tasty tidbits.  Athena is currently learning that’s not ladylike behavior and her place is on her bed until everyone has finished eating.  Her love affair with food has also impacted her waist line and she’s working to gain back her girlish figure.

She is not destructive in the home and doesn’t require crating.  She knows some obedience commands, but still needs work on her recall and can sometimes pull on leash.  Athena is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on a monthly heartworm preventative.

Athena is fostered in Lecanto and is ready for adoption. If you would like to make her a part of your family, please fill out an application and submit the processing fee. If you are an approved adopter interested in Athena or have questions about her or the adoption process, please email Cherie, our adoption coordinator, at cherie@gdlcf.org.
