Peanut

Adopted by the Gamble family, September 2025

Peanut (DOB August, 2024) is a sweet boy who lives life with enthusiasm and heart.  He is extremely curious about the goings-on in his world and appeases his curiosity through exploration.  He is a master at opening doors as well drawers, rifling through things and often leaving a mess behind.

His energy level is moderate in the home, but he really lets loose in the yard.  He has a deep love of toys and a playful spirit, which is evident when he’s engaged in tug games, chasing balls or happily zooming around the property.  Peanut is totally obsessed with food and is a skilled counter surfer, as well as a shameless sandwich snatcher.  He also steals treats from his long-suffering foster siblings.  There’s no doubt that if there’s food to be had, he will find it!

Peanut is hearing impaired and requires a home that has experience in communicating with and training deaf dogs.  His family should also have a history of previous Dane ownership.  As he watches carefully and learns by example, he will need a medium to large canine companion who can be a role model and show him the ropes.

This drooly boy is crate trained and considers his crate a safe space. As he is highly mischievous, crating is recommended when he is left home alone.  Peanut bonds very deeply with his people and needs someone home frequently who has the time and patience to help him thrive.  He’s still very puppy-like and has a short attention span, but he’s also incredibly sweet and eager to please.

Peanut is dog, cat and chicken friendly.  He tends to be very clumsy and is unaware of his size, so adults should be sturdy and any children in the household should be older.  Peanut enjoys visitors to the home and makes friends quickly.  He is often nervous in new situations though, but has been growing in confidence since coming into rescue.  His leash manners are a work in progress and he is becoming more comfortable with car rides.  Peanut requires a fenced yard.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on a monthly heartworm preventative. He is fostered in Lecanto and is ready for adoption. If you meet the requirements for his adoption and would like to make him a part of your family, please fill out an application and submit the processing fee.
