Margherita

Margherita was adopted by her foster family, the Brantley’s – October 2024

Margherita (DOB December, 2017) is a pretty girl with the most soulful eyes.  She is very devoted to her people, showering them with affection and always wanting to be close.  She also loves to cuddle up with them on the couch and have their undivided attention.  As she bonds deeply to her loved ones and thrives with their companionship, her ideal household would be one with someone home frequently.

Margherita or “Rita” has opinions on everything and isn’t the least bit hesitant to share them.  She also makes her presence known when outdoors, keeping watch over the neighborhood and warning away those pesky squirrels.  Despite her age, she still enjoys daily zoomies, both inside as well as outside, and will require a fenced yard.  She also enjoys plenty of playtime with her foster sister.  Her energetic bouts of fun and games are generally short-lived though and then it’s off to find the nearest couch for a long nap.

She is very good with little humans and especially enjoys snuggling up with them.  She can get a little rowdy during zoomies, so parental supervision is recommended to keep everyone safe.  Rita also loves the company of other dogs as much as she loves the company of people. She is never far from her foster sister or one of the other furry residents in the home.  She will require a large dog buddy for playtime and companionship.  Rita is also cat friendly.

She is crated trained and will nap in it by choice.  Crating is not required though, as she’s generally well behaved in the home.  Her one guilty pleasure is snagging tasty treats left on the counter, so foodstuffs should be put away.  Obedience training and leash manners are currently works in progress.

Since in rescue, Rita has been diagnosed with occult dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).  It has been caught early and she currently has no symptoms.  She is under the care of a cardiologist and takes a daily medication, as well as a cardiac supplement.  Her cardiologist will extend her adopters a Rescue Discount (10%) for her biannual visits.  Rita is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on a monthly heartworm preventative.  She is on a weight management diet as her love of food has had a bit of an impact on her girlish figure.

Rita is fostered in Titusville and is ready for adoption. If you would like to make her a part of your family, please fill out an application (link below) and submit the processing fee.
