Adopted April 2023 by the Suzuki family!
Mack is a one year old great dane that led a very sheltered life before coming into rescue. We were told he literally never left the house once they brought him home at 8 weeks old. Because of this he has no real leash manners and is learning about all kinds of things.Mack could be a Dane/Mastiff mix based on his build. He is more blocky like a mastiff and has a smaller head/snout. Mack is not jowly like a mastiff so he isn’t drooly either! He is very laid back for the most part which is likely due to more mastiff than Dane.He is about 145 pounds currently and likely has some growing to do.
He is crate trained and house broken however he still does mark but I do think that is because he was intact and still processing hormones out. That usually resolves in a couple of months, no exact timetable tho.
He has been great with any size dog he meets. And we were told he lived with cats previously so we don’t anticipate any issues with cats.
He can easily scale a baby gate and likely a 4 foot fence if he wanted too. He likes to run and play with the other Danes in the home however he isn’t the fastest or most high energy.
We have taken him on a few outings and he has done mostly good however he randomly has rejected getting into our vehicle. Again, he never has been in a vehicle until he came into rescue so we understand that will take some effort to become a normal, okay thing for him. Sometimes he loads in without an issue so I think it is just something he needs to do more routinely. Meeting people is similar. He usually does fine meeting people but some people he is unsure of.
We have not yet had him a month so we have not had a lot of time with him but wanted to share what we do know of him so far!
