Decker

March 2020, adopted by the Stowers Family

Meet Decker also known as “Big Boy” by his foster mom!  Decker is a 6 years old (DOB September 2013) merle neutered male.  Decker came into rescue when his family was going through a lot of serious medical issues and the realized he needed more than they could give.  Sadly his weight had crept up to 160 pounds and should be closer to 130 pounds, so he does live up to his knick name of Big Boy!

Decker is a Velcro Dane and follows simple commands and only needs a clap of the hands to correct him.   He was previously crated but does not need to be as he is safe/not destructive in the home.  He is house broken as well.  Decker was not raised with children or cats so both are an unknown.

His foster mom says he is a real sweetheart and really attaches to his person.  Decker loves being outside and going for walks, which is a good thing as he needs a family that will be dedicated to keeping him active and watching his calorie intake!  Decker isn’t a fan of baths or nail trims but tolerates them.  He is currently fostered with another male Great Dane and a Chihuahua and does fine with both.

Decker came into rescue with a partial healed wound on his knee area and it will take some time to heal all the way based on the wounds location.

Decker is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested negative, on a monthly preventative and microchipped.
