Makita

Adopted to the Heim Family, March 2019

Makita was found at the end of October, abandoned in a home construction site, in horrible shape. Since she was a stray we don’t know exact age but we think she is probably around 4 years old.   And while we don’t know her story we are pretty sure she was used for breeding and we are very happy to say she will never have another litter again! She has healed from skin infections and ear infections while in rescue and we are working to get her elbows more healthy.  She appears to have spent a lot of time on a hard surface as her elbows are still a bit raw and will bleed on occasion.

During her time in rescue her foster family has gotten to know Makita and she is a warm, gentle and affectionate and learned quickly how to play with toys and with other large dogs. She is cautious but tolerant of older children (10+).  She is currently being fostered with two younger female Danes and does fine with them and does still have a desire to run and play, just not at a “puppy/frantic” pace.

Makita is a fast learner and has been working with her foster family learning basic commands like “sit” and waiting with her 2 Dane foster sisters for her cue at mealtimes. She walks well on a leash, is not a high energy pup and is housebroken and crate trained. We do not know how she would do with cats or very small dogs yet, but are still learning about her personality.  This girl deserves a great lower key couple or family with older children for her forever home!

Makita is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm tested negative and on a monthly prevention.
