Loki was adopted by the Berry family, May 2018!
Loki is a Blue Male Great Dane Mix who recently came into rescue. We estimate his age at 2 years old.
Loki has an interesting back story. We were told that he was thrown out of a pickup truck as a puppy and the woman who saw this happen stopped to save him. He lived as part of this family until they were no longer able to care for him. As a younger dog, he lived as an inside pet but later was put out as a yard dog and no longer received routine veterinary care. Due to this Loki came into rescue under weight (about 87 pounds, should be closer to 100) and had both hook worms and tape worms. Also during this time he did not receive monthly Heartworm Preventitive and…you guessed it…he is Heartworm positive. All of this is treatable and we are addressing his medical needs.
When Loki joined his new rescue foster home, he transitioned back to an inside pet without any issues. He seems thrilled at being inside with his new people and their female Great Dane. His behavior so far has been nothing short of wonderful.
Much to learn about Loki yet but what we know at this point is he’s…
Docile and easy to manage.
A quick learner who’s eager to please.
Great on leash and loves to go on walks.
Well mannered in public and in pet supply stores.
Does well with other dogs once he knows and trusts them.
Good with children, 3 years or older.
Lived with cats.
House trained, crate trained, trustworthy and not destructive.
In Loki you get the sweet, gentle, affectionate personality of a Great Dane in a compact model!
He will begin heartworm treatment soon and has a neuter on the books! We are no longer accepting applications for Loki at this time.
