Grover was adopted by the Seibert Family! 08/03/17
Grover is a 11 month old blue Dane pup, born 8/24/16. He has been in rescue for roughly 5 weeks, so we believe we’ve had time to adequately assess his personality, health and needs.
Grover is a sweet, laid-back boy who is very affection-motivated. He is also “treat” motivated and learns new commands/corrections quickly, especially when praise follows! He is great with children and his foster family’s cat (basically uninterested), as well as their 1 1/2 year old female Dane. Grover does not chew destructively or steal clothing, etc.
Inside the house Grover likes to chill out in the window seat or nap in his open-door crate when not learning new commands or playing with his Dane “sister” (rope tugs, balls, etc.)
Outside, Grover loves to run in the backyard, play chase and walk calmly through a coned course to hone his leash walking skills. He has worked hard at ignoring the neighbors’ barking dogs and has learned to “come” quickly when called.
He loves affection so much that he barked (at first) when his foster “sister” received petting. He has come a long way (in a very short time) in learning to “wait his turn” for petting, wait at the door, and wait for his food. (He has also greatly improved some situational barking issues.) He loves his people but also loves his canine family as well.
Every morning while it’s “cooler” out, Grover, his foster “sister” and his foster mom walk for 30 minutes around the neighborhood (1.5 mi). He thrives on his daily pack walk, does not pull, and has learned to tolerate the gentle leader well. He follows his human’s lead and is mostly submissive/cautious.
Grover has gained approximately 10 pounds in rescue but still needs to put on a few more pounds. He is crate trained, housebroken and neutered. He is utd on shots and heart worm negative.
