Shirley – Shirley is approximately 1.5 years old (DOB October 2012) and is a black female with natural ears. She was at a high kill shelter so we don’t have any background on her. She came into rescue at a very skinny 74 pounds with most of her bones visible. She currently weighs 85 pounds. She also had some infected ears and a less than great coat. She is getting lots of food and TLC as well as supportive care so we hope for some positive updates in the coming months. Shirley is a very affectionate girl who loves people and giving kisses. She seems better suited to larger male dogs as she has lives with a male Golden Retriever and a male Great Dane. She seems indifferent to the cat in the home and we have not witnessed any interactions with children. Shirley does not play with toys much, seems to prefer running around in the yard more! So far she seems to be doing great with crate training and seems to be housebroken. She is not thrilled with baths or nail trims but she has suffered through a few of each!
Shirley is up to date on vaccines, tested heartworm tested (negative) and is on heartworm preventative. She is on medical hold until we can get her healthy enough for spaying.
